@Don Bruce yes- I know New Zealand has a large dairy industry but the US has a better chance of producing records like this, simply because of how we feed our cows.

What a great accomplishment you have there. Thats really cool and congratulations for the success of getting all those milk from cows. Wish our cows would produce such milk also. That would really make us happy.

@Amberan – you expressed a bit of fear about GMO’s. Don’t be fearful. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with GMO’s and besides they are highly regulated by the FDA. GMO’s are nothing different than what farmers have been doing for ever, selective breeding, except we’ve figured out a way t speed it up. Tell the person that was scaring you to go wash their dreads!

Two words – Holy cow! I am currently taking a dairy course and I’m planning to work in New Zealand. The cows in the school’s farm are only producing even half of that. So that’s a pretty outstanding record!

Is that a photograph of the record breaking cow? Perhaps I’m only used to seeing lazy cows, but that gal seems to really be fit. Almost looks like a horse.

The tail is pretty “poodle-fied” too, no?

This is amazing.I never thought that one cow can produced that amount of milk. I really want to get fresh milk. It is more nutritious than artificial.

I’m from Canada, too, and I’d like for us to be able to drink raw milk.

Anyway, it’s great that this new production record was attained. I’m share Amberen’s reservation about people artificially fattening up their cows. I hope that wasn’t done here.

We need to return back to non-GMO farming, in my opinion.

Hey, just a side thought: Isn’t it odd that, instead of labeling GMO foods as GMO, the supermarket instead labels organics?

Well, congratulations. I was particularly interested in this because I’m cautious of GMO’s (genetically-modified organisms).

Plus, I’ve heard of how some people feed their cows steroids so that they grow faster and produce more milk. I hope that wasn’t the case here.

I come from a little village in a Canada called Holstein. And yes we have a lot of Holstein cows in the are. Currently we are in a battle here right now to be able to sell Raw milk.

I’m not a dairy farmer, but did grow up on a farm in New Zealand, where we have a big dairy industry, so I do know a little about Holstein’s etc, and though I admit I’m no expert, but isn’t this a remarkable set of statistics for one cow? Seems to me this is double the production of the cows I was used to.
